Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster Washington County, Wisconsin
VOAD
stands for Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, a coalition
of voluntary organizations and government agencies united with the
common goal of working together to provide
services to local communities in times of disaster such as tornadoes, floods and terrorist attacks. As a coalition,
VOAD of Washington County is active in all phases of disaster preparedness and
emergency response in Washington County. VOAD itself however, does not provide
the actual services.
Rather, VOAD is the uniting force that provides the framework under
which member agencies pool resources and work together to provide
direct, local emergency service. VOAD of Washington County works closely with the
rest of the Citizen Corps and VOAD Councils in Southeastern
Wisconsin to coordinate planning, provide training and share
resources. The VOAD Councils in Southeastern Wisconsin are part of
the UASI (Urban Area Security Initiative) district which includes
Waukesha, Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Walworth, Washington and
Ozaukee counties.
